Nintendo reveals Classic Controller PRO for Wii (1421 hits)

With little fanfare Nintendo has added a new peripheral to its Japanese Wii controllers web page. The new controller carries the name “Classic Controller PRO” and looks to expand upon the buttons on offer in the standard Classic Controller.

As you can see in the image above, the PRO looks like a Classic Controller with and extra section just molded on to the back. With it there is space for hand grips and two additional shoulder buttons, but the controller as a whole looks to be wider allowing more distance between the thumbsticks. It actually resembles an N64 controller more than a SNES controller now in my opinion.

So what could be the purpose of this new controller? Potentially it is there to allow more modern games to appear for download that require more buttons, or better access to more buttons, than the standard controller allows.

We will find out exactly what Nintendo has planned in the next few months as the PRO is set for release in the summer. VIBE ON!
