Sega Announces 2010 Olympic Video Games, Virtua Tennis 2009 It's a heady day of sports for Sega, one with a season that's going on right now in professional tennis and the other that will take place next Winter.

Sega announced today that it has signed an agreement with International Sports Multimedia. The exclusive licensee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has granted Sega the exclusive video game publishing rights of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada. Sega will create winter sports games, including skiing, skating, and snowboard, and all bearing the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games emblem.
"Sega is extremely excited to once again work with ISM on a series of multi-platform games celebrating the Olympic Games," says Okitane Usui, Chief Operating Officer for Sega Corporation. "The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games offers gamers a collection of exciting sports to master, as well as a stunning location for players to take advantage of. We aim to bring fans around the world an exhilarating experience whenever they play any Olympic title."
Sega simultaneously announced that Virtua Tennis 2009 is in development. The tennis simulation will release for PS3, PC and Xbox 360 in May 2009. Popular tennis stars like Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams are all included in Virtua Tennis 2009.
"The return of Virtua Tennis promises to be a real treat for both fans of the series and sports game fans everywhere," commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director for Sega Europe. "The tennis season is shaping up to be the most exciting in years, and with new players, courts, an Online Tour and extensive on-court updates – Virtua Tennis 2009 is sure to maintain its spot as the standard by which all tennis games are judged."
